Monochrome & Zebra Print

So work has started in earnest, 5am wake-up time....I am once again run ragged by this 8-5 life of mine but who says I can't look faboosh while doing it :-)

Wore this outfit to work just yesterday.

Zara blazer and trousers; Primark lace shirt; Things Nigerians Love brown and black zebra print pumps; ASOS necklace; Valentino sunnies

I am in LOVE with having one colour running throughout separates or different shades of the same colour, its matchy-matchiness is so beautiful to me. I am currently on the hunt for a red pant-suit but instead of skinnies I want the trousers to be high-waisted and super flared, 70s style.

If I could get that I'd just die! Die I tell you!

Lol.

These trousers were initially flared but they weren't long enough so I had them pared down and voila...skinny trousers.

I really need to send a shout-out to my kid brother Ebuka who I've tortured this entire holiday into helping me take my pictures, the poor kid is probably ready to have me assassinated by now but he's been a trooper through and through.

My fave has been awesome sauce too, the look of despair on his face when I pull out my camera is priceless but he's been ace. Riccardo Pozzoli and Wes Mason have nothing on Olly.

That's actually food for thought, besides my girl Stella of Jadore-Fashion, Nigerian fashion bloggers are generally not in favour of putting their other halves on their blogs, me included. I feel like I've chosen this life of over-exposure but I don't need to drag my loved ones into it, which is why my siblings are never on here and my mum has been just a couple of times or so. This is so unlike international bloggers like Chiara,  Aimee, Gary Pepper or Jules whose boyfriends are practically accessories.

I think it might even be a black blogger thing, I don't think I've seen a popular black blogger showcase her significant other the way the non-black ones do. If you guys know any please correct me.

Work Chic - Dots On Dots

Wore this to work last week.

Shirt: Primark sheer shirt previously worn HERE. : ASOS pencil skirt

Had to take a picture with my girl Archie who showed up to work in polka dots too.

After work that day I had a very special meeting with catwalk coach extraordinaire, Jide Adedeji.

Why did I go see a catwalk coach you ask?

Well.....

I have a bit of a shameful secret, I cannot walk properly in heels.

There I said it *whew*

No jokes, anything higher than 3 inches and I'm teetering around like a newborn calf, its a mess. It was probably caused by the fact that I didn't wear heels for years and when I decided it was time to join this brave new world, them heels weren't having it.

See yeah, I used to be short, like proper tiny and then the year I turned 13 or 14, I can't really remember, I grew like 6 inches in a few months. It was the weirdest thing ever, my body became a stranger almost overnight and because I grew so fast it took me a while to get accustomed to my newly elongated limbs and I was the most awkward teenager ever, constantly knocking things over because I forgot how long my arms and legs were.

Suffice to say, it was an absolute nightmare, everybody I knew was still "normal-sized" and I tried to hide my height by hunching, wearing flats and almost trying to disappear.

Anyhoo it took me a while to be happy with my height and by the time I realized it was fabulous and wanted to wear high heels to appear even taller it was too late, I was unable to walk properly because I was so used to wearing flats.

This week I decided to take matters into my own hands and contacted Jide who is an ace catwalk coach and regularly teaches models how to stalk as if their lives depended on it.

My first lesson was on Tuesday and I left that class shamed at how much better a guy could walk in 6 inch heels than I could. Jide gave me a walk of life and I just stood there gaping. Now I am determined *in Kanu Nwankwo voice* (no shade) to work with him and practice until I can give them Naomi Campbell off.

Next time you see me you better clear because I might step on you (this is not a joke, I might literally step on someone, I'm 6 ft and I'll probably be wearing heels in the vicinity of 5 inches, there's no way I'd be able to see anyone below 5'7).

Fingers crossed.

Wide-Leg Trousers: Two Ways

"I told you, gimme a minute and I'll be right back"
Hellloooo lovaaiirrrsss, who missed me :)
So I'm officially back in the swing of things in Lagos and due to the fact that I'm doing 20 things a day I have to be dressed in an outfit that can easily transition from day to night.
Wide leg trousers are a favourite of mine and being as tall as I am, finding ones long enough are a serious chore; for example I've had the black trousers on the right for 5 years now, luckily they still fit, but since I got them I haven't found another suitable pair of high waist wide-leg trousers until I discovered Aqua By Aqua.

Like honestly if you know anywhere I can get 38 inch flared trousers please let me know, its a personal mission I've undertaken.

Shirt: Primark. Trousers: Aqua By Aqua 'Travolta' pants in Stone. Bag: Ralph Lauren tote in Epi leather. Shoes: River Island block heeled loafers

Shirt: Primark. Trousers: Topshop. Bag: Bill Blass 'Oliver' lamb bag. Shoes: Tory Burch 'Aaden' ballet flats. Sunglasses: Prada Baroque. Watch: Gucci

Dark lips = hot for the season by the way. I've got Revlon lipstick in Black Cherry on.

I'm currently loving these chiffon pants by Nigerian label, Grey.

Amazing print too.

Good Times

Thanks so much to everyone who gave me hair tips in my previous post. I've gone out and bought awon coconut oil, castor oil etc and I'm on that co-washing tip so hopefully all my hair won't have fallen out by the end of my one month experiment (fingers crossed that I even make it to one month and not give in to the siren song of a luscious weave.)

Friday night in Glasgow and I was ready to paint the town some sort of colour. The night started with a bang though (literally) when the taxi we were in was involved in a fender bender. My normal defence mechanism when scary shit happens to me is to shut down and go into zombie mode but when the car hit us from behind and we careened into the car in front of us I actually burst out laughing....like proper ha-ha's.

So weird.

Took this photo just after the accident, we ditched our driver and decided to walk. As you can see I'm in supremely awesome spirits, no idea why

My cousins were in similarly good humour, we just found the accident so hilarious. Ndi Arondizuogu laugh in the face of danger.

We went to an East African bar/restaurant called Calabash which Nigerians, as we are wont to do, had colonized and made their own. Weirdly Glasgow is chock full of East Africans, I say weird because the black population in Aberdeen is so predominantly Nigerian that I'm used to assuming every black person I see in Scotland is Nigerian. There however, every single person looked like Wyre and members of the East African Bashment Crew.

I had the BEST time at the bar. By the time we got there most of the clientele were pretty pissed and some man was having a heated argument where he kept calling Oliver De Coque a miscreant and saying King Sunny Ade was a bloody left winger. Lord knows why I found this so funny but I laughed till I had tears in my eyes, my cousins and I kept calling ourselves miscreants the entire weekend. It was that funny.

From the bar we went to a club called Carbon which I had been to the last time I was in Glasgow. I've noticed that hearing Nigerian music in clubs is no longer a novelty, I'm not sure if they're quite mainstream yet but anytime I go out the possibility is high that I'm going to hear Nigerian music and its not even in strictly black clubs, all over the place. The shock from hearing Flavour in an Australian bar in Paris is yet to wear off even. The playlist always rotates between D'banj, P square, Wizkid, Flavour and recently Davido though.......like all the time, just this 5.

Pretty cool.

The afternoon before I left we went out to lunch. I am desperately trying to put on some weight, I've never dieted in my life but I've lost some weight recently and its really worrying because my lifes mission is to acquire a healthy set of child bearing hips and hopefully a bottom worthy of Kimmy cakes. Losing weight is just not acceptable. I don't weigh myself so I have no idea how many lbs I've lost but I noticed I could notch my belt a little tighter this weekend and I'm very displeased. Hence I've been eating like a pig, no dice yet.

So yeah if you know any specific foods I could eat that would go straight to my hips, pleeaase let me know.

I just figured out how to work the filters on Picasa, so excited by this discovery, being playing with it all day.

Saw this statue of a couple at Buchanan Bus station and I LOVED it, the expression on the guys face is soooo...I don't even know, something just twanged  inside me when I saw it. Apparently the relics of St. Valentine are said to be in the Blessed John Duns Scotus church in the Gorbals area of Glasgow so the city is trying to use that tenuous link to hold a Festival of Love every Valentines Day. There's even a "love trail" made up of several artwork and sculpture all around the city depicting scenes of love, this statue is one of them.

Pretty cool.

I had the bestest time, my cousins are awesome hosts and I miss them already :(

On a brighter note, WATCH THE THRONE TOMORROW!!!!! From the reports I've been hearing from people who did WTT on Friday and Saturday, it was mental, I'm looking forward to losing my voice on Tuesday.
