Carmen Ejogo in Etro

Hellooooo gorgeous!

COVER WARS - Oluchi vs Rihanna

Oluchi + Mania

This woman has had a child abi? Because this cover is ridiculous, she looks 16!!! Love it!

Oluchi always looks amazing in pictures, I remember seeing a Banana Republic campaign she did back in 2002, she had a huge billboard on the Hollywood strip, I was so proud, like she was my own blood sister. I'd point at the billboard and tell anyone who had the misfortune to be close to me that she was Nigerian while cheesing like a MF.

Oluchi has had several ,agazine covers; Italian Vogue, I-D, Surface, Untold and True Love but my favourite of hers has to be the True Love cover. She did the "Demi Moore" pregnant belly shot (more covered up of course) but it was soooo beautiful, so natural, she was about 6 or 7 months gone and she was blooming.

Real Work of God.

Beyonce Performing At Superbowl 2013

It is a truth universally acknowledged that Beyonce Giselle Knowles-Carter slays every stage she performs on, that she has snatched all her contemporaries bald, that she is currently the greatest performer alive and that she is my spiritual big sister.

Well get ready to be thoroughly entertained because we know Beyonce is going to royally ruin every females career on a larger scale than she normally does.

Superbowl 2013 are you ready?

D.E.A.T Diffusion line by Ejiro Amos-Tafiri

The first dress I ever bought from a Nigerian designer was the Waka dress by Ejiro Amos-Tafiri and I've remained a fan since. Her clothes are very beautiful and very stylish and not wildly expensive.

She recently teamed up with her best friend Diana Ubah to create the diffusion line D.E.A.T Lagos ensuring that you don't have to break the bank to look amazing.

Love the clothes, you can view the lookbook on Bella Naija

JBL vs Boxing Kitten

I'm not one for controversy, on TWP I tend to stay away from anything that might offend, I do enough of that in my personal life.

A few months ago I wrote the blog below but decided against posting it but tonight my friend Stella of Jadore-Fashion noticed the exact same thing I saw and drew the exact same conclusion and called my attention to it.

I'll leave this one open for discussion.

In November last year I viewed photos on Bella Naija from the Jewel By Lisa S/S 12 'Vintage Love' collection, as usual it was a slam dunk. Beautiful fabrics, gorgeous designs....all round A+.

See one of the dresses from the collection below

Beautiful right?

Now a few months ago I saw pictures of the Boxing Kitten Fall 2012 collection on the Fashion Bomb Daily and the fabric used for a dress in the collection looked very familiar

It is possible they may have used fabric made by the same textile company, in Boxing Kittens case; made from Wax Print as opposed to the more opulent fabric used by Jewel By Lisa. I've searched online but I can't seem to find any connection between both designers textile suppliers, I'm not sure if there's even restriction on Intellectual Property when it comes to textile usage.

Just thought it was a little odd though. Both dresses, side by side again

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong and there's absolutely nothing wrong with this.

60's Preppy

I fancied (in my mind) that I was channeling the Kennedy's in their Hyannis port early 60s heyday by slapping on a striped man's button down and giving my photo a vintagey-ish filter.

Feel free to disagree, its sha my title and I'll post if I want to :)

Shirt: Charles Tyrwhitt men's shirt. Shorts: H&M boyfriend shorts. Bag: Ralph Lauren epi leather tote. Shoes: Ralph Lauren ballet flats. Cuff: ASOS. Sunglasses: Dolce & Gabbana

Wore this on Sunday to have lunch with my fave and my friend Mia at a South African seafood restaurant called Ocean Basket. Typical Lagos, there's a new place open every week and everybody was going nuts about this Ocean Basket place so I decided to check it out.

We had the cajun prawns, Kingklip fish, half fries and rice, calamari salad, mussels and olives.

Pretty good food but the best thing about it was the amazing service. The waiters were polite and helpful, the manager was a godsend, the owner was nice and jokey.....combined with the delicious food I'm definitely going there again.

This Week I'm Loving........

...........Obsidian Bags

I saw these bags in person a few weeks ago at L'espace when I went to get my nails done and I was just bowled away, they are so lush; the mask detail, the hardware, the varied metal clasps, the skin......LOVE.

It was so hard to pick my favourite out of the lot so I just settled on the ones below.

Adunni Triple chain red ostrich shoulder bag with matching mask detail

Adunni Triple chain pale pink elaphe shoulder bag with contrast mask detail

Ivie Mini single chain caramel and black zebra print calf hair cross body  bag

Ivie Mini single chain fuchsia pink  elaphe cross body  bag with matching mask detail

I know its a few months past my birthday and Christmas is still a while away but can I get one just because its October?

The Weekend!

Since I've been back I've been slacking on the singular duty every self respecting Gidi Girl must perform and that is attending a wedding.

Last Saturday I attended the first wedding I've been to since April and as Lagos events tend to go, it was a blast.

Decided to go double duty on the Virgos Lounge for it

yes Virgos Lounge again, I can't help it, I like what I like.

Top" Virgos Lounge 'Amber blouse'. Skirt: Virgos Lounge 'Fearne' skirt. Shoes: Salvatore Ferragamo bow pumps

Before I set out I stopped by my girl Stella Maris' Stellas Addiction make-up studio. I hadn't had my eyebrows threaded in over a month and I looked like a gremlin, Stels hooked me up with quick painless threading for the great price of N1,500.....compared to other places people had recommended to me which charged N3,000 and upwards Stella's was a steal.

Stella's Addiction studio is situated at No 10 Balarabe Musa crescent of Samuel Manuwa street VI, Lagos.

Beautiful people.......

Loved this Aqua By Aqua dress on Kike of Toseki Vintage

The wedding was an absolute scrum, populated, it seemed, almost entirely of ex QC and KC boys, I told a friend it reminded me of being back at Inter-house sports in QC with little differences like we were all definitely grown up and everyone was way hotter than they were 10 years ago.

Another thing was we got served some top notch nosh, the food was ridiculous, it kept coming and coming. Several zips were let down and buttons popped open, everyone discarded their selense to do it justice. Food and drinks are probably the most important bits of a wedding reception and the service at this wedding was peak. There were about 3 main courses and small chops went round multiple times (praise the Lord), the dessert was probably the best I've seen at a wedding (trust I got the dessert caterers details) and the drinks were never ending.

Congrats Arinola and Kwesi...top wedding.
