*Warning...photo overload*
Attended my friend Maky's wedding on Saturday and it was AH-MAZING! The whole week in the run up to the big day was so much fun and Saturday was the perfect climax. The last time I had this much fun at a wedding was at my friends Ediri and Molly's back in 2010.
ASOS double cuffs
River Island studded sandals
I did a fishtail braid for the first time that day, I'd never tried it before and I thought I did a pretty good job considering it was my first attempt. It works better when your hair is really full and not very sleek though, my hair was flat-ironed and serum'd up to within an inch of its life when I did it, so it didn't have the fat plait look a fishtail braid is supposed to have. I'll try it again after I've washed and blow dried my hair to give it more volume.
Everybody brought their A game that day, as in it was a room full of gorgeous people in seriously beautiful clothes. I love that Nigerians always get dressed up, none of that casual BS. Some people actually dare show up at weddings looking like they're just running down to the off license. Anyone that tries to ruin my wedding photos in 'casual wear' is going to get it from me.
Go hard or go home.
Beautiful people.....
It was an evening wedding so after dinner which ended at about 10ish or so an ice bar was set up in another room while the reception room was being turned into a club with a lit up dance floor, the whole works.
I was pretty stoked to see the ice bar because I've heard about ice bars, ice clubs and ice hotels for quite a bit but I've never seen one in reality.
It was interesting trying to figure out how it was being refrigerated to keep it from melting, the things people come up with are just amazing.
The shots were served in these ice shot glasses.
Dope AF.
The music was spectacular, DJ Exclusive outdid himself and we literally danced till like 2.30am, I didn't get home till 3 and the party was still going strong after I left.
I'm proud to announce I think I can now drink properly without wanting to curl up and die. I had several shots and glasses of champagne and I was clear headed all night and woke up "lookin, smellin, feelin like a million bucks" *in the voice of Ludacris*
I think I'm finally an adult.
It was beautifully organized and had a strict guest list that was adhered to. I've always wondered if its possible to have a wedding in Nigeria where people actually RSVP and has a guest list, no stragglers, name cards at a table......
If anyone has managed to pull it off I'd really like to hear how they performed this feat because the only weddings I've seen this being done successfully was this one and my friend Ejay's in 2011, and both were in London.
These past 10 days or so have been LIVE.
Love and light xx
Your life seems like a movie sometimes, so many beautiful people. You look fantastic too, great dress. Would have loved to see pictures of the couple.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. The couple are very private so I didn't want to have their business out there like. Pictures of guests and friends were sufficient.
ReplyDeleteMy wedding was strictly via IV as well last year summer with maximum guests of 150. Your friend Adanna was there too. We told people beforehand and made them know if they come with extras they won't be able to get in and the IVs were personalised per guest with their names handcrafted on, so no way you can come with extras if their names were not in the guest lists that the security guards at the door had and it worked out well. It was a strictly close family n friends ish, no unknown faces at all and the wedding was in London as well.
ReplyDeleteYou look gorg in ur maxi.....its explosive lol, nice color *thumbs up*
That's my issue, I can see that being pulled off outside Nigeria but I've never heard of it being done in Nigeria. Would love to attend one just to see how extras are bounced.
DeleteThanks love xx
your dress... cest gorg!! awesome wedding too
ReplyDeleteMerci! Lol
Deletegorgeous pictures, love your dress, lady in the VL dress looks stunning!

Thanks a lot babe, I'm a fan of your blog btw.
Deletelove the dress dear and the wedding seems like it was much fun, oh and you did good with the fish tail!xx
ReplyDeleteIt was great fun, the best. Thanks, the thing gave me a headache.
DeleteSo which one of those ladies is @Miafarradaily? Gorgeous pics
ReplyDeleteLol, she isn't in the pictures.
DeleteAs usual, you look amazing!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous folks everywhere. I wish the couple the very best.
Keep up the good work hon. Jisike!!!
Da'alu nwanne'm , I will!
DeleteI went for wedding in Lagos at sheraton a few years back where it was strictly by invitation, place cards were on each table, I guess it worked because the couple lived in America and just came down for the wedding, so they wouldn't have the backlash of, (with beef in their voices)AH, you didn't invite me for your wedding o and when I came I was turned away at the door
ReplyDeleteThat sounds amazing, would have loved to see it. They must have been really strict to have been able to keep the marauding hordes hunting for party rice from their wedding.
DeleteWas really strict, there was a guest list at the door, it is possible if you keep the wedding off twitter and facebook like we have people doing today and keep it quiet. Searched for that dress at Asos, couldn't find it, I think its fab, I really don't know how you dress this nicely in Scotland, a lot of people here are just drab.
Deleteyour dress is gorgeous. you look beautiful. i can't remember the last time i went to a wedding and knew what to wear. probably never.
ReplyDeleteLol, hey Asha. I really doubt that. With Nigerians I don't think there's a particular wedding dress code, as long as you don't wear white and you're not showing your knickers you can pretty much wear whatever you want.
DeleteI see a pic of a girl who is not the bride/ bridesmaid in white! eek
DeleteI made 2 snaps in Z formation. YOU BETTER WORK!!! Omalicha.
ReplyDeleteThere are 3 snaps in the Z formation
ReplyDeleteI actually tried it out now reading this, lol
Deleteyou look gorgeous! y'all look like u had fun. nice post.
ReplyDeleteAwww thanks so much
Deletemy wedding was in lagos in 09, and it was strictly by IV, my aunt left her IV at home and was bounced. the bouncers were not smiling. it was 1000 guests, name cards on tables etc!! it is very possible to pull off a strictly by invite wedding, u r bound to offend ppl but abeg it is ur day
ReplyDeleteNo freakin way! If any of my aunts are ever bounced from my wedding, they'll scatter the venue. Christ you're ballsy!
DeleteLol at invite only wedding. Its very possible tho with tight security. Me i quit toying with that idea a while ago. My mum is a 'people' person.
ReplyDeleteYou look gorgeous as usual. xx
Thanks luv. My mum too, but she'll have to chill because I've seen the wonders of an 'invite only' wedding and I'm never looking back.
DeleteLovely dress, and those bangles/cuffs give it an edge too.
ReplyDeleteThank you! They're my absolute favourite wedding, I wear them all the time
DeleteI love your dress soo much!
ReplyDeleteMy parents had 57 guests at their wedding, 26yrs ago, i plan to have 50 people at mine, and its going to be in Nigeria, dunno how I'll pull it off, but I will.
Maybe wed on a monday morning..... still thinking. lol!! I can already hear accusations from family and friends * bbm not interested face*
Thank you so much. I think in the 70s and 80s it might have been easier to pull off a non owambe wedding, the 90s and noughties were just times of great excess, damn near impossible.
Delete50 guests you say, I'd love to see it. Good luck with that.
Gorge wedding!! Loved the ice bar effect! love your dress!!!
ReplyDeleteI plan to have an invite only 150-200 people wedding in Nigeria. I have not lived there since I was 8, so I doubt there are that many people I know willing to come and be mad about not being invited.
It was cool, did my head in. Thanks babe. Maybe this generation might be able to kick start 'invite only' as the next wedding trend because Lord knows its necessary
DeleteYou know my cousin Somkele A-K? Small world!
ReplyDeleteI do, through his sister and I guess your cousin too, Erenma. Hella small world
DeleteThe weaves are much. Love your hair! Very sleek!
ReplyDeleteHow come you get the best Asos dresses? damn! You look amazing.
Thank you. Lol, got that totally on a whim and it turned out to be a great dress surprisingly
DeleteLovely pictures! That dress and color looks great on you. I love how you style your hair...classy ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy married life to the couple!
I also had an invite only wedding of 160 guests and we were not playing. I didn't want a rowdy wedding and the whole world lol!
Thanks my love, tryna be like you, lol.
DeleteYour wedding was fab, honestly this has become my life's mission, the attempt to have a small, invite only wedding in Nigeria.
Love the dress. I'm sure you had a great time. You should try on heels sometime though.
ReplyDeleteThank you, I did. Lol, I'm wearing heels though
DeleteIt has been pulled off in Nigeria. Thank God I didn't attend. I was bored and wanted to travel with my friend for the wedding but changed my mind at the last minute. Saved me some embarrassments. She told us that frm the gate, u were escorted with to the door of the reception whre u had to show ur sms invite, say ur name and whose side u r on. Bride or groom, they then check for ur name on the list and u are escorted to ur table. I was tripped!!!
ReplyDeleteYour dress is lovely!
ReplyDeleteThe ice bar sounds amaze. I've never seen that here in Yanks o. Very cool concept. As per the whole guest list thing, I wonder whether that would fly in Naija. A lot of people do invite-only weddings here, and folks respect themselves and don't crash. If I was to get married in Naija, I would love to make it invite-only with assigned seating. I don't want some random ass individuals showing up and turning my wedding into a jamboree.
Wow! You look absolutely stunning!!!!
