TWP Tees on Metrogypsie

TWP Tees were featured on Metrogypsie and Y Naija!!!

So my friend Stephanie writes an awesome blog called Metrogypsie with a very interesting concept. She takes street style up several notches by featuring an individual person each week or so and spotlighting every outfit they wear for 7 days for an entire week, so you get to see how said person combines their work and casual style. Her blog has only been up and running for a short while but in that time its garnered quite a following and has a very sizable readership.

Recently she deviated a bit from her MO and instead decided to feature working girls wearing t-shirts to work and to my obvious excitement she had them all wearing TWP Tees!

You can see the entire post on her blog HERE and on YNaija HERE.

Top Tips for Buying Second Hand Shoes Online

Buying pre-loved clothes and accessories is becoming more and more popular, particularly when purchasing designer items. If buying used footwear is something you’ve considered, read on for these top tips to buying second hand shoes online:

Get plenty of photos
When you’re buying used shoes online, you don’t get the privilege of seeing and feeling your desired pair up close – unless you happen to live near the seller and are able to arrange to see them. It’s important that you can see shoes in as much detail as possible, particularly when looking at an expensive designer pair. Ask for as many photos as possible and never by used items from a seller which only provides stock imagery.

Ask to see the soles
Whilst you’re asking for more photographs, ask if you can see some snaps off the shoes soles. Ultimately the soles of the shoes are the part which will have the most wear and you need to be able to see they have plenty of life left in them! Also, if you’re buying a pair of original Laboutins the red soles of each shoe are an iconic feature and should be in good shape for them to be worth the likely high pricetag.

Don’t be shy
The great thing about buying online is that you don’t have to face rude sales assistants or lazy shop staff. Instead all you need to do is ping the seller a quick email to find out any further information you require. Don’t be afraid to ask lots of questions; a genuine seller will not mind how many queries you have – whether they be about size, make or postage costs.

Check authenticity
Want to buy designer or big name brands? Ask if it’s possible to see proof of authenticity, perhaps a receipt from the store. There are a lot of fake designer items on sites like eBay, so you just need to be a little wary, but generally high-quality seller feedback and their willingness to answer your questions can help put your mind at rest. Specialist retailers are often more reliable too, so if you’re looking for a pair of second hand Ugg boots opt for a seller that sells womens boots.

Check size
Not only do you not get to see shoes when you buy them online, you don’t get to try them on! We all know that not every shoe in our size is comfortable so there is certainly a risk you take when buying from an auction site with no returns. However, to avoid the most obvious discomforts, do your research and make sure the size advertised is not different according to brand. If you suffer from wide feet, you should look out for wide fit styles and ask for measurements if necessary.
New Look are a retailer of value fashion apparel, the second largest womenswear retailer in the UK, with over 1,000 stores worldwide. New Look’s designs range from dresses and jackets, handbags and womens boots.

Best Of The Week

'Bad' by Wale ft. Tiara Thomas

This. Song. Kicks. Ass!!

I'll be the first to admit that I've not always been a Wale fan, I know he can rap and all but nothing he's done has ever spoken to me and unfortunately for him in his early Twitter career he was extremely lax with the rules of grammar and syntax so I tensioned him dreadfully anytime he made a mistake (gbagauned).

Until 'Bad'.

Omg I love this song, been playing it non-stop for a week. Tiara Thomas' voice is beyond, her voice reminds me a lot of T-Boz with its gritty undertone and Teedra Moses with the hood angel quality. I heard the song was actually written for Rihanna but thank God they gave it to Tiara instead, she murdered it. Plus Brianna Murphy is a gorgeous gorgeous girl, I mean with a mum like Nicole Murphy if you turn out ug its really your own fault.

*sidebar* on a completely unrelated note but necessary to discuss as it involves parents who give birth to awkward looking kids. How on earth did all the Willis/Moore daughters end up looking like their dad? That was a hell of a genetic lottery. Boggles the mind.

Anyhoo back to my song......

Jasper Fforde

Discovering this man below is literally the best thing to happen to me all week.

How on earth have I gone through life for this long without reading a single Jasper Fforde book???

I read his book 'One of our Thursdays is Missing' recently and I felt the same way I did the day I read my first Neil Gaiman; 'Anansi Boys'. Like how did I not know about this, how could I call myself a self-respecting bibliophile without getting into Gaiman or Fforde??

I have to give props to my fave because he put me on to both Gaiman and Fforde and I am eternally grateful.

I started with the Thursday Next series and the minute I was done I got on Amazon right quick to buy up all of his books. (Next to fashion, books are where the rest of my paycheck goes).

This book below.......

*sigh* just sublime.

I have a thing for clever writers, writers that make you think, not simpletons like E.L oops.

Fforde takes your brain into overdrive, he forces you to remember every part of speech, every literary allusion or character you've ever studied. reading this book felt like the most satisfying Literature class ever.

Its really hard to explain why his books are so good, the best explanation I can give you is to go read one, that's all and I suggest you start with his first book 'The Eyre Affair', then proceed to 'Shades of Grey' if literary references are not your thing. If you're a fan of nursery rhymes then try 'The Big Overeasy' or if you were too immersed in the Book World and Goliath Corporation and Thursday Next then you can finish the rest of the Thursday Next series.

Any Fforde you decide to try you're getting a literary experience unlike any other.

p.s. Neal Gaiman fans, new book coming out in June. I suggest we start with a candlelight vigil holding up copies of 'American Gods' aloft to kick off the festivities.

Beyonce's Pepsi Commercial

I've confined my stanning for Beyonce to Twitter and Instagram but I had to come out of the woodwork for this.

Beyonce's Pepsi commercial is perfect. Its beyond amazing. She took us on a journey from 90s Bey to 2013. She showed us aaaallll the facets, all the looks, the dancing, her sickening body......everything!!!

I'm going to need some time to calm down because.......

Beyonce Giselle Knowles-Carter is a goddess and you better respect.

Took a peep into Keyshia Cole and Keri Hilson's mentions yesterday when this commercial dropped and nearly bust a gut, the Beyhive can read for the gods. They're going to drag these girls for eternity and their children's children. I know its not fair but its sooo funny.

Simple moral of the story; don't come for Beyonce....ever, you'll get your wig/afro/edges/lace-front snatched.

Peep the perfection

White Story

My Easter was so chill, I'm wondering how on earth I'm going to be able to get back in the swing of things on Tuesday.

Spent most of Good Friday in church and observed sacred silence till Easter Sunday so my weekend was spent mostly at home reading and refereeing my younger siblings who were home for the holidays.

Popped out for a bit to have dinner and decided to go super casual in a white button down and jeans, giving them Audrey and Jackie simultaneously, then last minute knotted the shirt a la Brooke Shields.

Charles Tyrwhitt mens shirt; Topshop jeans; Prada Saffiano bag; ASOS ankle strap pumps

Oh yeah and I had my hair streaked with golden brown highlights, every time I let it down I feel like a Girl of the Playboy Mansion. I've wanted to do it for so long and whenever I catch a glimpse of my hair in the mirror I do a little jig.

Hope you all had an awesome holiday!
