Fringe!

Gave my girl Esosa Stores a mandate and she came through as usual...

She made this dress in about 3 days, and the awesome thing with Esosa is we've been working together for so long, I never actually have to get measurements taken. We literally discuss a style over Whatsapp and I go pick up the dress when its ready, most of the time, on the day of the event.

I keep thinking bad luck will catch up with me one day and I'll miss an event because of my tardiness, but so far so yay.

I was running super late that day and didn't have time to take proper pictures so I roped in my gateman to play pap for the day. Hence the.....slightly uncomfortable stance.

I felt so weird mean mugging for him.

Same neckpiece worn in this post HERE. This neckpiece is from H&M and cost just $35, but its proven its worth over and over again.

Anything I wear it with goes from badder to baddest.

Wedding Saturdays: Black & Gold

For the first time in I don't know, many many years, I attended a wedding where I didn't personally know the couple.

Weddings are very stressful and unless the couple are personal friends or I'm on the bridal train I don't attend.

This one though, my friend made a great case for it, I had a nice outfit so I thought "why not", and I'm glad I went because it was one hell of a party. Typical Lagos, I happened to know over 70% of the room so I felt very welcome.

The story of this outfit get as e be. It was initially a boubou type dress and I'd had it for over a year but never wore it. Then sometime this year I thought it could stand to be transformed in some way and took it to my intrepid designer, Jen of Esosa Stores who cut and stitched her way to perfection.

Catch-Up

I feel like the past couple of months or so have just been a whirlwind.

First off, two of my closest friends got married and none of them had the decency to do it in Lagos, so from Anambra to London to Benin to Port-Harcourt, I've legged it all over the world to watch these girls become women.

Then it was #DaksDay again *cue clashing cymbals*, the absolute bestest day in the history of the world ever,  rolled by again and as yours truly is an unrepentant Lost Girl and will personally never grow up, I made a big deal over it (again) and made sure my friends were as involved as ever (again).

All in all I've had a pretty stressful few months and extreme lethargy combined with travel fatigue combined with hellish traffic combined with random bouts of frustration and above all the horrific inefficiency of my ISP, Swift (swift indeed *sidest of eyes*), have ensured that blogging stayed pretty much on the back burner. Right now I'm actually using my mobile hotspot to post this because Swift is on the fritz yet again. Please if anybody knows any half decent ISPs in Lagos, for the love of God let me know because I might just place a burning cross in front of the Swift HQ one day just to shake them up a bit.

Daks Day

This delish cake via my Soul Sister Molly. Since the day I met this girl, many many years ago during summer school she has bought me a cake every year on my birthday. No matter what country I'm in or she's in she makes sure I get a cake on my birthday.

I wrote on Instagram that I wear pink on my birthday every year, its no secret that my favorite color is pink but I don't really do pink clothes, just lots of pink accessories and a very pink room. So I'd wear a pink accessory or carry something pink around the whole day. Don't ask why just go with it.

This year, with the chutzpah brought on by old age I finally had the courage to go the whole hog and wear all pink.

This year was definitely more low-key than my usual birthday throw downs but I was surrounded by some of the people I love most, there was food, cake and a pink dress.....best day.

Weddings

Because Nigerians like to marry and with all the gra gra surrounding the event; bridal showers, hen nights, traditional, registry and white weddings, you'd think I attended like 6 weddings in the past 3 months instead of just 2.

My QC roll dawg Nwabugo got married in London in June and and I gave up 3 of my precious leave days for her as per lovers and shit.

Not sure if I left my brain back at the office but somehow I forgot my camera at home and for this bit I'm relying solely on mobile phone pictures and photos I filched from Sisi Yemmie's blog.

She had a French themed bridal shower.....

.....and wore a Maggie Soterro dress looking like an absolute princess.

I'm all tough on the outside and melty on the inside and without fail I have cried at every single one of my friends weddings, but this one......my goodness. Bugo is a massive romantic and unlike me who is terribly ashamed of my love for the gooey stuff she lets her freak flag fly. So to say she brought it at this wedding is an understatement, the thing be like film.

Every moment brought waterworks, I kid you not. From walking down the aisle with her baby brother to her vows to their first dance......I bawled throughout.

See below for example, as caught out by Sisi Yemmie's unforgiving camera.

and I caught the bouquet.....

The world just won't let me be a grinch in peace.

Next up, my favorite month and the bride's birth month as well, July was all about my Gam Gam aka Iroghama.

This babe carried me from Benin to PH as she transitioned from a Bini girl to an Okrika wife.

You can just tell this post is full of stolen pictures....

My Gamma danced like there weren't a thousand people watching, gave me all I needed and more.

At this point she was possessed by the spirit of Patoranking

So yah...besides tons of NSFW, in fact Not Safe For Life pictures depicting extreme acts of debauchery, this is pretty much what I've been up to recently.

Wedding Saturdays - Nomnso & Oby

Another Saturday, another wedding.

Honestly I can't remember the last time I had a lazy Saturday. Between buying aso-ebi, planning bridal showers and hen nights and the umpteenth bridal group on Blackberry I'm about ready to put up a black dp the next time one of my friends announces he or she is engaged.

I. Am. Exhausted.

If my friends could just elope they'd make life a whole lot easier for real.

Fashi the complaints sha I love a good party so last Saturday I journeyed down to KFA to party with my friend from uni Nomnso and his beautiful wife Oby.

Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures during the wedding because I don't have a camera anymore so I begged and bribed my brother Chidi to help me take these with his iPhone before I left home.

*this iPhone camera is the business, I really need one in my life*

Metallic dress worn as top from Indigo Boutique; Lady Biba 'Jasmine' skirt; Michael Kors python clutch; River Island studded sandals; Plated choker and bracelet from Jewel By Iyunade.

Yah, I wore a dress as a top.

Due to the incessant cash hemorrhage caused by my love of the good life, I am pretty much always skint. I designated August as a no-shopping month and besides the outfit I had made for my cousins wedding last week I have not bought a single fashion item this month. I had absolutely nada to wear for this wedding and since I couldn't buy anything new I decided to shop my closet and came up with this silver metallic dress I bought from my friend and blogger Jibby's store, Indigo Boutique. I've had this dress for about 5 years now and worn it only twice in that time, thank God I hadn't given it away or sold it. I paired it with this maxi skirt by Lady Biba I got at LPM last month and heaved a sigh of relief that it was at least presentable.

Shop your closet guys, you never know what you may find.

I need to do a special post on this hair I have on. It is sold in Nigeria and so seriously affordable, will give you guys the info soon.

Wedding Saturday - Charles & Ogo

I spent the public holiday in Abuja for my cousin Charles' wedding and I can't even begin to describe the "epicness" of the 4 days. Aaaalll my favourite people (well a good majority anyway) were in town and we shut. shit. down.

No jokes we painted Abuja yellow and black for Charles Okpaleke and Ogo Adimorah

If you follow me on Instagram (@LoveTWP) you would have been able to see a bit of the madness, let me just tell you that that wasn't even the half of it.

Unfortunately it was such a freakin good weekend that my camera got caught up in the gbedu and decide to make a break for it, I am currently sans camera which really is quarter to curtailing my blogging career.

RIP faithful Canon G12, we had a good run.

My lovely friend Archie came to the rescue and the pictures you see below are as a result of her beast of an iPhone, any picture you see here that's slightly blurry was taken with my Blackberry. Now I want an iPhone, the pictures are amaze, boo to you Blackberry and your smidgy camera.

Now to the festivities!

First off Charles and Ogo gave us all the glory by pulling up with their ceiling missing and proceeded to slay every other wedding holding that day.

Then they flew Carl Thomas in to serenade them all special like.

I now proceeded to appropriate Mr. Thomas in my bid to constantly give them on Instagram.

I wish I had taken more pictures, it was a beautiful, beautiful wedding and it was probably one wedding I've been to that had the highest number of gorgeous people. No kidding, everybody was flat out good looking; outfits were banging, weaves were laid like Simba's mane, make-up was beat to heaven and back. Abuja people gave me all the joy I needed in life that weekend.

So now to my calling card, my outfit. Tope Abiola of Frockit Rockit did that!

I can't even tell the story of how this dress came to be, lets just say it was sewn literally in a day and a half, Tope took my measurements and did a fitting in my office bathroom, that's how dire the straits were and it is a testament to her genius that I shimmied into that wedding looking like the grace of God.

*yup...I said it, I looked goood dammnit*

Frockstar all day everyday!

Giving the people svelte hourglass with tons of sparkle

Adding a bit of a tease with an unlined back, I believe my tae-bo is paying off yo

*that is where tae-bo is really driving to Four Points gym with every intention of making my class and somehow finding myself parking at the Palms, next thing mysteriously standing in front of the Coldstone counter and before I know it someone is forcing a Cookie Doughn't You Want Some into my unwilling hands*

Looking into the distance, eyebrow slightly raised, a ghost of a smile on my lips thinking "Daks my child...you may go forth and slay"

Boom!

And slay my baby girl did.

100 watts!
