Loving...

Two Weeks - FKA Twigs

I am very very late to the FKA Twigs party. I knew her as the kooky chick who was dating Robert Pattinson, but that was pretty much the sum of it. Never heard a song, never saw a video...till 2 months ago. Went to my friend Yoko's house and for some reason she played pretty much all the videos on the FKA Twigs discography and I fell in love...HARD. Two Weeks is my favorite song by her and the video is a total mind trip.

Gbemisoke Pumps

Its common knowledge that I stan hard for Gbemisoke shoes, but when I published that post, the label had only released a 'flats' collection. They recently came out with heeled pumps in various delicious colours and I was sent a pair in red. Cannot wait to shoot them, they are so beautiful!

Moofa LFDW 2015 Collection

One week since fashion week and I'm still dreaming about these Moofa dresses.

Somebody bless me!

This Is How You Lose Her - Junot Diaz

I'm reading this now for my book club and it is endlessly fascinating. Its a collection of short stories about the interconnected love life of the protagonist Yunior and how he deals with each of his relationships. Now I've rarely read about relationships from a male perspective so this was really interesting. Plus Diaz throws in a lot of Spanish references so I'm constantly checking the meaning of this and that on my Kindle as I read. I actually haven't finished it, because...life, but so far so good.

Kylie Jenner in her role as The Constant Baddie

Plastic or not, you can not deny the fact that this child has grown up to be a baddie of ridiculous proportions. This picture of her in a 20s inspired dress at Kris Jenners 60th birthday party left me speechless...for all of 3 seconds, then I recovered. But still...damn!

Johann Pachelbel's Canon in D

Canon in D is one of my favorite compositions of all time, the melody is amazing and I can literally listen to it over and over for hours. That's how a friend of mine informed me that its four chord progression has basically been used in every top 10 pop song since the 70s. As a vulture aka lawyer, my first thought was that whoever owned the copyright had to be a billionaire by now, but apparently, "music lawyers contend that simply reusing a four-chord structure is fair game, and too common to infringe copyright".

Axis of Awesome did a brilliant video showing how many songs use Canon's four chord structure. I've played this video so many times. Fascinating!

Adidas Superstars from Payporte.com

Recently got these Adidas sneakers I'd wanted to buy for the longest time from Payporte. I kept seeing it and passing but it stuck in my head and when I saw the Payporte Ambassador, Noble Igwe was giving out a discount code to enable people buy it for half the price (N7,000), I got on that, quickly.

Hello - Adele

I know this is everybody and their grandmas favorite song but for some reason, it never did it for me. I was more focused on Adele's precise cat-eye liner, her blow-out and her phenomenal bone structure than on the song itself.

All that changed one evening when I was driving on Third Mainland towards the island. Photographers will agree with me that twilight has one of the most fascinating light qualities in a days sequence. Sunrise and sunset are forever popular, but there's something about twilight that has this hazy, dreamy quality that makes you feel like you've fallen down the rabbit hole.

That particular evening I was on the bridge listening to Hello and driving towards the island and the light was spectacular, the ships on the water had turned on their lights and the reflections just glowed. The Marina building were super-imposed against the sky and looked like postcards, then the hook came on, right at that moment. I swear when Adele's voice was rising towards its crescendo it felt like I was having a spiritual moment. The music swelled and the scenery was heart-stopping and there was no traffic so I was literally flying....

Lets just say by the time I got off the bridge, Hello was my favorite song.

Love and light xx

    1. You're welcome! The discount code has expired now though, so its probably back to N14k. But there's always some sort of sale going on there, so you might get lucky. Good luck!
