Extra! Extra! Read all about it!

Would have included this in my earlier post but I just saw it now. I know you guys are used to this side of me that writes about fashion, lifestyle, personal experiences etc.its really easy to forget that I have a proper job, being a lawyer that is. I love to write and I love fashion but I view them as interests which I indulge in from time to time, which I love but are not necessarily my future. My dream is to become the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, maybe even The International Court of The Hague, all in all the aim is to get to the top of the Judiciary.

Anyhoo a while ago, I and two other counsel in my firm won an appeal at The Court of Appeal, it was a major case and written up in Law Reports, I actually never saw any myself but I was just given a copy of the The Guardian Newspaper from the 19th and it was reported in their Law Review! That is like a really huge deal and I'm tres excited. I become eligible to be appointed to a Court in Nigeria in 2019, long, I know but its the rules, you have to be 10 years at the Bar before you can become a Judge and I was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2009. So things like this publication are very important and go a long way towards establishing a solid reputation and being nominated.

So here's to Justice Adaku Abimbola ****** LLb BL ACIArb LLm(very soon)Phd(still thinking about that one) sitting at the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Lagos Division 2019.

Giddy and tinz

Yesterday a friend of mine accused me of being "giddy" and he said this with the utmost disgust. He's used to my normal sarcastic, pessimistic, cynical persona, so to be confronted by this alien in Adaku skin who's constantly smiling and happy was disconcerting to say the least. But I am though and I make no apologies for it, I am happy, life is beautiful, I am beautiful, love and light to everyone, lol. Ookaay now I just sound deranged, anyhoo to the business at hand.

In my last post I talked about the Pink Pearl Foundation and their work of spreading awareness about breast and cervical cancer, on Saturday the 9th of October we went to Mushin to educate people, hand out information packets and demonstrate the appropriate means of carrying out self examinations on breasts.

Ediri, Adanna

Omawunmi, who's one of the ambassadors for the Pink Pearl Foundation and the other officials. Omawunmi is giving serious face in this photo, cracks me up everytime I look at it.

It turned out to be quite a fun morning and a welcome change from my usual social routine. As my tormentor Ediri said when she was telling me about it "your life shouldn't be all about fashion and events and parties and shows, come out and do something different for once and in the process help your fellow man". Ok, maybe she wasn't quite so eloquent and civilised, there was plenty of b***h, you better get the f**k out of your house and f*****g attend this rally for breast cancer, or something along those lines sha.

Earlier in the week I attended the party for the new Miss Nigeria Damilola Agbajor at the Marquee with my friends Jen and Jania. The girl is so GORGEOUS in real life! When I first saw photos of her on Bella Naija, I was like the other contestants must have been fugly for this babe to have won, not that I was being spiteful or anything but she didn't look special at all, I thought she was very ordinary, just bleh. But in person her facial features are exquisite, I was just like wow. Also Nike Oshinowo-Soleye is a MILF toh quality (not that I personally would, but I know many guys my age she can get it from, repeatedly). She really looks amazeballs for her age, body is ridiculous, skin is glowing.....like whatever she's on, I want some of that in 20 years time.

Res ipsa loquitor people, does this look like a beauty queen? In person though she's just really beautiful.

Jania, Jen, Mai

On Sunday I attended the Basketmouth show Lord(s) of the Ribs (I know its "Lords" but I just feel like I'm gbagauning when I say it so I prefer "Lord"); at the Expo Center at Le Meridien Hotel.
*sidebar* The Expo Center seems to be the hottest place in Lagos now, every fabulous event is taking place there, I've beeen there not less than 4 times in one month alone and I think I have 2 more events to attend there before the end of this month, jeez. The word "overkilling" does not exist in the Nigerian dictionary.

Anybody who knows me well knows I'm a huge fan of laughter, I crack up for the daftest things, that song from Mary Poppins "I love to laugh" should be my theme song. So if there's a comedy show I'm in there like swimwear. No jokes but Basketmouth is BALLING! I'm sure it def costs a bit to book the Expo Center first of all and the tickets cost 5k for regular and 20k for Vip, the Expo Center is massive but it was packed, regular, vip, everywhere, people were even standing sef. At the Vip tables we got complimentary champers, small chops and hors d'oeuvres (I kid you not, like stuffed bacon, anchovies on crackers, pate), in the words of Winterbottom I was flabberwhelmed. One lucky bugger also won N1million, they gave out 2 Virgin Atlantic tickets to watch the next Lord of the Ribs at the O2 in England and a South African Airways ticket. Dude also had some heavy sponsors. I was just like daaaang, comedy pays sha.

He had international comedians from South Africa and England, the SA dude was the best of the night, i stayed rolling throughout his performance. After the comedians the musicians now took over; 2face, MI and where there's MI there will be Banky W (I don't know why but keep an eye out yourselves, if you see Banky W somewhere, look around you'll def see MI too), IcePrince who performed that banger, "Oleku", Sound Sultan, ELdee, Terry G, Wizkid etc.

Wizkid is just the cutest, chai, fine boy no pimples and he's soooo young. I loved Terry G's performance, I'm such a Free Madness stan, that song is jut pure foolywang, dude is not claiming to be some sort of intellectual or a sensitive person, its just a fun fun song. Himself, who is used to my Celine Dion taste in music could not believe his eyes when I jumped up and was shouting "free me now!" with the rest of the crowd, I showed my Arondizuogu that day, trust.

Banky performing Strong Ting with Kafy, o seksi gan

Ooooh and last week I finally received the Contour & Highlight Kit and Brush from Sleek Makeup that I won in @sleekmakeup's twitter contest. Great product, gave me cheekbones for days.

And I officially finished NYSC, yay! It was a great year.

Ediri, Winterbottom

The Weekend and Slu....ssshhhh

I love public holidays and every day I thank Jehovah that I live in a country that has public holidays for days. The general ones, religious ones, just for the hell of it ones...e.g.
- January 1st: New Years
- February 26th: Id-el-Maulud
- April: Good Friday, Easter Monday
- May 1st: May Day
- May 29th: Democeacy Day
- September 11th: Id-el-Fitri
- October 1st: Independence Day
- November 18th: Id-el-Kabir
- December 25th: Keresimesi
- December 26th: Boxing Day

I know there are more, I just can't remember them right now. June 12th is observed in Lagos too...sometimes and the darling that is Obasanjo decreed that if a public holiday fell on a weekend then the following weekday will be work-free! In addition to my Nysc cd days, honestly I've barely worked this year.

Anyhoo, October 1st was Naija's baiday therefore I sat my heinie at home on Friday, though I heard some efiko's were spotted at work. Around midday I started to get cabin fever *I can never be a housewife btw, boredom for yonks* so I decided to go hang with my faboosh friend Jen, who got it into her head to eat puff-puff by all means that day. She actually went to the market to buy flour and had her cook make puff-puff, jokes! We spent the day watching Gossip Girls Season 4, The Good Wife, chopulating the puff-puff, kissing her son Osahon and gossiping seriously. Before I left had to take a gander at Jens closet, one word for it...phenomenal! One day I have to do a blog post on her closet, from Louboutins, to Lanre Da-Silva, to Deola Sagoe, to Jewel by Lisa, to Vuitton, Chanel, Diane Von Furstenberg, Chopard, Miu Miu, Dolce....you get my drift. Its absolute madness in there. A t-shirt or tank top dare not show its face in Jen's room, the girl wears outfits. In short I stan for Jen's closet.

Went on to Bisola Winterbottoms house for yet another party (this child really needs to go into event planning, she draws crowds to the Mainland whenever she's having anything).

That was my October 1st in a nutshell, didn't do anything remotely patriotic, couldn't be bothered to be honest. The whole independence thing was getting on my nerves sef, earlier in the day I was in some godawful traffic because members of Christ Embassy decided they wanted to set up a float in the middle of the road and start handing out copies of that Rhapsody book, can't remember the proper name. Anyhoo, in an effort to try and get out of it, I did some Grand Theft Auto style driving and managed to knock off someones side mirror. Nigerians, being the drama loving people that they are, the scene was crowded in 5 seconds. Being a law-abiding citizen I had no intention of making a run for it, so I parked, went over to the guy and offered to share information so I could get his car fixed. Dude just went OFF on me, yelling and what not. I was just like shouting is not gonna fix your car, the guy wasn't even listening, he just kept yelling, the amebos were there shouting, okada guys were shouting...it was a mess. Seeing that noone was being rational there, I left them and went to my car to sit down until the guy was ready to talk and apparently that was a huge insult, it seemed to annoy the crowd the more that I wasn't begging or grovelling, that I went to sit in my car. I was totally confused, I'd admitted responsibility for the damage, I had offered to pay for it and I had apologised, why would they need me to beg, was it gonna help the situation in any way. Nigerians are just insane, honestly nothing can save this country. Finally managed to get outta the situation.

Saturday was my boyfriend Azubuike's 4th birthday and he was having a pool party for all the baby kele's in Parkview, so as his aristo mummy, I made my way down there. My baby threw a hell of a party, he had great food, hannah montana karaoke, babes in barbie bikinis, spiderman party packs...it was a great day.

Adanna, Azuibuke's mum, My baby. p.s. I got him the gift he's holding, a Buzz Lightyear light saber type sword. It was a HIT. My gift buying skills are legendary

From there went on to Slu...ssshhh at the Marquee with Adanna, awesome party. There were performances by Ikechukwu, MI, some other dudes I can't remember their names but I know their songs sha. Noble Igwe throws a slammin party. I met soo many twitter peeps, shotout to @pamboogie, @ricdizzle, @jideaboderin.

Peep my gorgeous new Odion Mimonet purse. Thanks darling xxx

Adanna

My boo, the original Bad Guy, Afolabi aka Beazy

Mr. Incredible. There's a funny story behind how I met MI. At the 2face concert, I was sat at a table next to his and at some point I tweeted "MI is short, Chineke". One gbeborun either copied him in the tweet or Retweeted it, anyhoo he saw it and was like @VivrantThing I heard you o. Everyone who knows me knows I heart MI tres much, I had to let him know that his size was not commensurate to my loving him, lol. The long and short of it was he started following me on twitter and we began a beautiful friendship

Ikechukwu performing

Adebayo. He's the Creative Director for Onyx & Pearl Clothing and I recently started spotting him at events (he's such a cutie) he also writes the blog leoandpisces.blogspot.com

Sunday was totally chilled out, mooched around His house, then we went to get mini burgers and watch the Arsenal-Chelsea match later in the day.
*sidebar* The bowling place at the Silverbird Galleria (can't remember the name) does awesome mini burgers, like I've become totally addicted to them and you get 6 burgers with fries for only N1,900. Thats amazing value, trust.

The Weekend

Its kinda weird posting about my weekend on a Wednesday when another weekend is almost upon us but seeing as this blog isn't exactly financially viable and I have a proper job suing people for obscene amounts of cash , TWP sometimes has to take a backseat to my paycheck. Luckily though, today was payday *yay* so I thought I better post real quick while I'm still feeling rich and happy with the world.

Had a fabulous weekend, it was my neegar Oyidiya's birthday on Saturday and she had a house do and an after party at Rehab, in the tequila-laden hegzitement I forgot to take pictures at the after party so I just have from the house shindig.

My outfit to Oy's party. I was feeling very retro 60/70's that day, hence the gingham mid-riff baring top, high waist super flared pants, heavy bangs and Priscilla Presley eyeliner.

Lems for days

Oy trying to cut her cake while being harrassed by Iso and David

Nneka (who obviously did not want to make a second appearance on TWP) and Ndali

Helga, Yoko, Nene, Madonna and Rhema

Sunday was the almighty Innocent Idibia aka 2face's concert at the Expo Centre of the Eko Le'Meridien Hotel which basically just shut down Lagos. It was the best concert by a Nigerian artiste I've ever been to, even on the same level with the Thisday concerts. We were at tables that sat about 10 people with bottles of wine and finger food, the Expo center was just faboosh, the event organizer Cecil Hammond did a great job, I was really impressed.

Wearing my pink jewelled caftan by Fashion For Life which I said in an earlier post I was gonna wear to the 2face concert. this was said before I even had a ticket, as I always say "confession is possession" "speak and you shall receive" lmao!

Oy, still on a high after throwing a mad party the day before

The following pictures are from the skit 2face did with Nollywood actress Tonto Dike, whom I'd never heard of till that night. It was for the song "Flex" which 2face did with R Kelly (fleeex, time to have sex.....you get my drift). Anyhoo, in the first scene Tonto was on a couch in a white man's shirt and moving along to the music, she then started to take the shirt off. I was a bit alarmed till i saw she was wearing a nude shimmery bodystocking underneath. She and 2face then went behind a screen which was lit up from inside so we could only see their silhouettes. They then started simulating sex, from missionary, to standing up to doggy, to oral, they did everything. At the beginning I'd been frozen in shock that someone actually attempted this in Nigeria but I started to get the ingenuity of it. It was a BRILLIANT performance, like whoever choreographed it and thought of it is a bloody genius. I saw over on Linda Ikeji's blog, a few people were like the girl's reputation is finished and all that, which I thought was absolute bollocks. I don't think any less of her after seeing that, I even now respect the versatility she brings to her craft. If you decide to be an actress you might as well be ready to go all out instead of constantly been safe. Its going outside their comfort zones that won actresses like Halle Berry and Charlize Theron Oscars, anyhoo I digress, it was my favourite performance of the night.

Performing African Queen, he had this girl with the sickest abs I've ever seen in Nigeria, I thought my stomach was flat, this babe's own was CONCAVE (the one with her hands on her hips, not the Fulani one)

The show ended at about 2am, which resulted in my not getting to work till 10.30am the next day. It was sooo worth it.

*sidebar* Nigeria is 50 on Friday and its really not that big a deal, yesterday morning 15 schoolchildren were kidnapped in Abia State and instead of diverting resources and manpower to their discovery our government is gearing up to celebrate Nigeria's independence in such an obscene and disgusting way that I can't even quantify it. The Nigerian governments flagrant abuse of the county's massive wealth is mind boggling and the fact that its not even done covertly but to our faces is ludicrous. Yet there's nothing we can do, we can all stand on our soapboxes, tweet, blog, go on the radio about it yet nothing gets done. Our present and past leaders have utterly failed us and we can only look to the future and pray they do a better job.

God bless Nigeria.

RunDown

Wearing my dress by Ejiro Amos-Tafiri, my new favourite designer and she's a QC girl too!

I was recently accused of going out a lot, which I took umbrage at because I regard myself as a bit of a homebody. I stood corrected because my accuser did not mean I was at Rehab and Marquee every weekend shaking my cakes but rather that I had an active social life, that I could understand. Lagos is a total beehive of activity, every day and not just weekends there's oodles of stuff going on: wine tasting, sweet tasting *le sigh*, book readings, movie premieres, fashion shows, concerts, comedy shows, burlesque, salsa, yoga, networking events, store openings, jazz nights, bar openings, karaoke, restaurant openings, award shows, poetry slams.....I LOVE Lagos, you get my drift. Anyhoo I decided to limit myself, so sadly I don't go out as much as I used to, therefore less stuff to talk about and as I already placed an embargo on my personal life here on 3WP, I might soon descend into TMZ territory and start reporting celebrity news, lol.

Luckily I have lovely friends who refused to let me fade into obscurity, also egbon mi obirin Nwabugo was in town from the abroad. Last week being the end of Ramadan, I hit up my friend Bisola's Sallah party.

*sidebar* In Lagos, whenever its Sallah there's a noticeable increase in Christians acquiring Muslim friends so as to have somewhere to go and lem. Luckily I have Bizla who never fails to put on a spectacular bash every Sallah, so I don't have to go prostituting myself like some people I know *side-eye*

Chinye, Bisola, Nwabugo at Bisola's Sallah do

After gorging ourselves we headed to Club Towers for my newest obsession, karaoke. I actually did karaoke for 3 weeks straight without a break, I'm now weaning myself off it slowly and downgrading to singing loudly in my car so I don't offend innocent people. If you see a girl in traffic in a blue Camry doing the dougie and rapping to Lil Will, do not be alarmed. We met up with Ediri, Nerhi, Faith, Antoinette, Valerie, Benjamin, Ejiro, temi and Ada for a Lady Gaga, Spice Girls and Rihanna session.

With Ify, Bugo, Ediri doing "Wannabe"

They show the most hilarious videos while playing the songs, its like a Hall of Fame of bad acting

Temi, Ify

Ada

My girl Oyidiya aka Oy came into town and ice cream therapy had to be on the decks, we hit up Ice Cream Factory with Yoko and Henrietta.

The damage that was done, this were just our entrees sef, we did more damage that night, bill came up to over N11,000.....never again

Ran into Dan, while she was on a "frolic of her own"

Yours truly wearing my ankara brooch from ST Colours, also doubles as a hair clip. Fetch!

*sidebar* we ran into Noble Igwe, PR guy who also runs the blog 360Nobs. All week on twitter, Nobs had been going on about "The Girl In The Yellow Bikini" whom he met at his SL..USH pool party in Abuja the week before. He posted twitpics of her asking if anyone could identify her and give him her deets, he even did a blog post on her. That night at ICF, Noble finally tracked her down, dude wanna romantic die.

Yoko and Noble
I have no pictures of Oy and Henrietta from that night because Henri deleted the one I took of them because she "did not like herself in it" and I forgot to take another one.

Took a day off work on Wednesday to go sort out my NYSC Final Clearance, I really can't believe its been an entire year since I started Nysc, it went by super fast. I'm actually ashamed of how inadequate a corper I was, I didn't stay in camp, I wangled my way into the Drama Community Development Group, ensuring myself an entire year of loafing. Serving, truly isn't that bad but we make such a big deal out of it and think its so "cool" to not have fully participated in it, anyhoo its over now, can't do it again.

Met up with Oy and Nneka at Cafe Royale to plan Oy's birthday do on Saturday, which promises to be legendary btw.

STAN

I'm not even gonna bother apologising for infrequent blogging because I know I will do it again, so now thats outta the way lets proceed shall we?

I keed! I keed! Forgive me Blogville for I have sinned, its been....dang, almost a month since my last post. I don't even know whats causing my tardiness anymore, I'm just lazy, that's it, no other explanation.

Unfortunately I was hit with the official Nigerian disease over the weekend, malaria and was confined to bed the whole weekend (apart from a quick trip to Orchid Bistro with Bisola Winterbottom and going to wail at my bestie Nwabugo's place cos she was leaving on Saturday). Anyhoo, on Sunday while busy feeling sorry for myself and trying to force down my 4 times daily tablets of Artesunate, my darling friend D, knowing the sorry state I was in, came over to mine with spare ribs and butter pecan ice cream, I was delighted of course, even if a little surprised. "D" I said, "how did you know that I'd want spare ribs and butter pecan ice cream". "Daks" he said, "everybody knows what you fux with". I realised how true that was...

*permit me a little insight into that aspect of my personality* I have an OBSESSIVE personality i.e. when I love something I OD on it, I tell everyone how much I love it, I tweet about it, I read/eat/watch/do whatever it is at least every damn day (finances permitting). I literally never get tired.

I and D had a fun 2 hours while he went over all the things, over his long association with me, he knew I stan'd for:

*this list is in no particular order*

BOOKS
I LOVE BOOKS! I learned to read pretty early, by the time my mates were still struggling with "the fat cat sat on the mat" a la English Premier, I was already on a Dr. Seuss and Enid Blyton p, no jokes. Its so bad that when I'm bored I read the back of cereal boxes just to have something to read. I read everywhere, while eating, on the can, getting my hair did, at work, driving sometimes, when the traffic is really bad. I tingle in my unmentionables when I smell new books, I hpnestly don't think I can fully quantify how much I love to read so I'll stop here.

BEYONCE
She. Is. The. Queen. Period

MALTINA
i really can't explain why I stan for maltina and I don't know whats gonna happen to me when I move away for from Nigeria and can't get it anymore. The taste is just sublime.

DVD SERIES
I'm addicted to sitcoms, drama series etc (except Mad Men, talk about useless hype). I remember the great Desperate Housewives Weekend of 2007. Where I spent an entire weekend from Friday to Sunday, watching Desperate Housewives Season 1 and 2 in its entirety without moving. I ate all my meals in the living room, I took very infrequent bathroom breaks, I think I only showered once that weekend. It was deep

CELINE DION
Anyone that can get Celine Dion to sing at my wedding must sit at the right hand of the Father on Judgement Day.

KITKAT CHUNKY'S
The Whys and Hows are immaterial, I stan for chunkys in a bad way.

BUTTER PECAN ICE CREAM
Every other flavour of ice cream, especially chocolate make no sense when measured with butter pecan, none at all.

GREASE
Sandy, Danny, Rizzo, Kenickie, Frenchie, the music, the 50's, leather pants, Pink Ladies, Thunderbirds??? The holy Grail of movies.

VICTORIA BECKHAM
Vicky is the greatest fashionista ever! She literally does not take a bad picture, like I have never seen one bad shot of her, never. She's like my ultimate.

JACQUELINE LEE BOUVIER KENNEDY ONASSIS
The complete antithesis of a femme fatale, yet this woman held the entire world in thrall her whole life. Gotta love her chutzpah.

BLACKBERRY
Truly, them Research In Motion people have no idea what they did for me when they invented the Blackberry.

ROMANCE
I love love, no matter how much I try to be cynical and world weary of the idea of romance, whenever I hear the story of the couple that have been in love for years and still act like they just met, I get tears in my eyes. Yes bad bishes cry, lol.

These are a few of the things I stan for and fux with on a daily basis. For the more aesthetically inclined of my reading public, a post with pictures should be on the decks sometime this week.

p.s. NYSC is over!!!!!!!
