Proposals

Making my usual blog rounds this morning when I saw the sweetest wedding proposal video ever on Madam Stings blog, nigerianscorpio.com. I love the way it was private and still so epic at the same time.

I can't even imagine the effort and co-ordination that must have gone into it........so beautiful.

This proposal reminded me however of the nastiest wedding proposal I've ever seen in my life. It was a massive, huge mess of a production. Now I'm sure some people like that kind of thing, but being ambushed the way this man did his girlfriend, now wife, is my idea of a nightmare. I'm not a fan of public proposals; restaurants, airports, *insert appropriate sport* games........basically anywhere perfect strangers can ooooh and aaaah at what is supposed to be a really special day for me will embarrass me to no end. If people absolutely HAVE to be there, family and close friends are enough.

In this video this man assembled what looked liked the inhabitants of a small country to propose to his girlfriend and he didn't even stop there, this thoughtless, thoughtless man further blindsided the poor girl by organizing an impromptu wedding on the spot. I'm actually shocked her friends and family agreed to be a part of it because anybody that brings such an idea to Mrs. U is getting turfed out right quick.

I may be wrong and the woman might have really loved it seeing as she was cheesing through the whole thing and crying prettily but I like to believe she was so severely shocked by the horror being bestowed on her that her brain went numb and the normal reaction which should have been anger, embarrassment and a nice gbosa on the face of her boyfriend were suppressed.

Howie Mandel is really the source of all the evil in this world.

I can't even describe it any further, you guys need to see this for yourselves.

Through Madame Stings blog I got a link to a really sweet site ringonthefinger.com that features videos of the best marriage proposals caught on film. If you're going to rock your girlfriends socks off it makes sense to film it for posterity and bragging rights, on the girls part anyway.

Love and light xx

  1. I'm with you. Public proposals aren't for me. Even family and friends is a very huge stretch. I'd rather not have them there.

  3. Wow the work... Lol at him asking her Yes? Yes? Yes? Home girl couldn't breathe! of course it was yes. lol. beautiful.

That big show of a proposal, ughhh i was so embarrassed for her first time I saw it, just cringing. I don't mind restaurant ones cos it can possibly be private... in the end hopefully you know your partner enough to do something they'll love

I saw this one last week and although it was big, all the participants were family and friends so it was kinda cute . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_v7QrIW0zY&feature=player_embedded

  5. I so agree! All he needs is me and him, him doing the asking and I doing the yessing. So what are ALL the other people for? Helping him ask or helping me say yes?*Blank stare*.Restuarants are worse...talk about emotional duress.

    1. Yes o, that's the prayer now because if that 2nd proposal is ever inflicted on me obviously dude has no idea who I am and I'll def think twice about marrying him.

  7. Adaku Ufere, you are HILARIOUS!!! This bride in the second proposal, maybe she loves attention or this is exactly how she had always fantasized being proposed to. Why else would she be so thrilled to have her wedding witnessed by a million dancers at something that looked like a concert? And her parents and so called bestos agreed to attend? They should be ashamed of themselves! Any man that tried that kind of stunt with me will eat hot cow shit oh!! Nice one Daks!! xxx

  8. I concur 100%!

A friend sent me the second video last year gushing about how awesome the proposal was...i wasn't impressed at all and i told her that it looked like a circus show instead....and the nerrrrrrve he had to have them throw that ooogly dress on her and make her marry him on the spot. The thing irritated me i swear. In fact thanks sef for reminding me of this hideous video. I shall proceed to have a nice talk with my BF about how to NEVER EVER propose to me.

The first video was so thoughtful and beautiful. I love that it was intimate yet big!

Intimate proposals are the bomb! Like u i dont need the world all up in my moment....not even family or friends; they get the wedding...i can at least have my proposal moment!

  11. Second one was way too much! I'm sure they must have talked about marriage before, and I'm not all about long engagements, but to go from a proposal to a wedding within five minutes doesn't seem right. I hope that their marriage works out.
