Work Chic - Dots On Dots

Wore this to work last week.

Shirt: Primark sheer shirt previously worn HERE. : ASOS pencil skirt

Had to take a picture with my girl Archie who showed up to work in polka dots too.

After work that day I had a very special meeting with catwalk coach extraordinaire, Jide Adedeji.

Why did I go see a catwalk coach you ask?

Well.....

I have a bit of a shameful secret, I cannot walk properly in heels.

There I said it *whew*

No jokes, anything higher than 3 inches and I'm teetering around like a newborn calf, its a mess. It was probably caused by the fact that I didn't wear heels for years and when I decided it was time to join this brave new world, them heels weren't having it.

See yeah, I used to be short, like proper tiny and then the year I turned 13 or 14, I can't really remember, I grew like 6 inches in a few months. It was the weirdest thing ever, my body became a stranger almost overnight and because I grew so fast it took me a while to get accustomed to my newly elongated limbs and I was the most awkward teenager ever, constantly knocking things over because I forgot how long my arms and legs were.

Suffice to say, it was an absolute nightmare, everybody I knew was still "normal-sized" and I tried to hide my height by hunching, wearing flats and almost trying to disappear.

Anyhoo it took me a while to be happy with my height and by the time I realized it was fabulous and wanted to wear high heels to appear even taller it was too late, I was unable to walk properly because I was so used to wearing flats.

This week I decided to take matters into my own hands and contacted Jide who is an ace catwalk coach and regularly teaches models how to stalk as if their lives depended on it.

My first lesson was on Tuesday and I left that class shamed at how much better a guy could walk in 6 inch heels than I could. Jide gave me a walk of life and I just stood there gaping. Now I am determined *in Kanu Nwankwo voice* (no shade) to work with him and practice until I can give them Naomi Campbell off.

Next time you see me you better clear because I might step on you (this is not a joke, I might literally step on someone, I'm 6 ft and I'll probably be wearing heels in the vicinity of 5 inches, there's no way I'd be able to see anyone below 5'7).

Fingers crossed.

Love and light xx

    1. emmm sorry, but tall girls shouldn't have to sacrifice looking good just so short people can feel comfortable. Most fashionably cute shoes out there are high so do u expect us to wear unappealing kitten heels and flats? Heels completes an outfit. I cant imagine wearing a banging outfit and then wearing flats...it just brings the fabness of that outfit some notches down. No one harasses short people for wearing flat shoes, so why harass tall babes for wearing high heels? The sky is high enough for anyone to be as tall as they want o. Me i'm 5'10 and most of my heels are 5inch tall and i love the way i look in them! I love to stand out anyway, and i love the attention and compliments i get everytime. I hate to see tall beautiful women cowering with low self esteem in their flats because people are constantly telling them they're too tall. Its a blessing! If i had a dollar for every time females tell me they wish they were tall as me or had long legs like me etc...i wish those tall women will realize that they are beautiful just the way they are...and embrace their height!

  3. Your outfit is seriously great. I've also developed problems walking in heels since I joined the work force and stopped wearing high heels for the fun of it. Oh, that was uni days.

  4. Lol! I feel you, difference is I'm 5ft 3 and need the heels to be seen! I wore heels to court the other day and it was only by His Grace that I didnt hold on to a male colleague' hand! But I knew this would happen, so nobody told me before I packed my flats!!

    1. My dear ehn, the BS I get for wearing heels. I just ignore, they're usually talking to my stomach area anyway.

  9. Very nice outfit as usual. one thing though, i dont think your height is that much a big deal, cos u seem to always go on and on about being 6ft tall. my baby sis is 6ft, i have rly tall friends though i am just 5"7. maybe becos i am used to having both tall and short people around me, i dont see what the big deal is about this your height, u go on about it all the time and it seems like you are intoxicated by ur height or just roll with a really short crowd. all i am trying to say is that you are beautiful, we all are in different ways; you are also sexy. but please tone down on this obsession with your height and get over it as it takes away from your humorous posts. thanks.

    1. All I got from this was:

"very nice outfit as usual", "you are beautiful", "you are also sexy", "your humorous posts"

      Thank you!!

    2. Hia! What kind of half-ass compliment is this? Well anon, the fact that u're only 5'7 sums it all up. If u were her height, u'd get why she's always mentioning it.

  11. My mother would love you....I am short (will not disclose height, u saw for urself) and I refuse to wear anything more than 3 inches, and you took matters in your own hands

  12. My mother would love you, one for the fact that you actually sought the help of a runway coach, and two you want to wear heels even though you're tall. I am short(u already know this) but unless you're giving me $500 million, you cannot convince me to wear anything higher than 3 inches.
